Imperial 1st Thuring Reg't Artillery saber for the 1st Thuring Field Artillery Reg't #19 by
WKC. This is an absolutely stunning example of a triple engraved sword. The dark blue
sharkskin grip shows minimal wear. The nickel silver plated surfaces of the "P" guard, backstrap
and hilt are fantastic condition. The "P" guard has a slot for a portepee or decorative strap. The
scabbard retains better than 95% of its original blued finish. The carrying ring is fixed. The
blade is a work of art! The blued panels depict on one side crossed canons in one blued section
leading to the dedication - "1. Thuring. Feld-Artill: Rgt. No.19. This panel section leads
further down towards the hilt is a mounted plumed helmeted officer. The bluing is FANTASTIC! The
reverse side of the blade depicts two blued panel sections with one showing a horse's head which
in turn leads to the larger panel depicting mounted artillerymen leading a caisson with a field
piece. Again, the bluing is exceptional. Each blued panel has an oak leaf and laurel filigree
on each side. The top of the blade also exhibits the filigree etch. The remaining portions of
the blade is in likewise stunning condition. This piece would be almost impossible to

Heer Kavallerie Regt. No. 5 officer's dovehead, triple engraved sword by Carl Eickhorn. This
early model Eickhorn Nr. 1312, features crossed sabers on the obverse langet indicating
cavalry. I suppose the beautifully etched panel on the blade that
reads "Kavallerie Regt. No. 5 might be a give-away too. The pommel, backstrap, quillon
and qullion base all have a deeply etched repeating oak leaf motif. It's beautifull
to see this Eickhorn detail. The blade features the Kavallerie Regt. 5 designation
making it an early piece. It would be worth looking the unit as a research
project. The reverse of the unit panel side inscription features another acid
etched panel featuring a beautifully detailed two small Wehrmacht eagles flanking
single riders and another showing mounted cavalry. The blade has areas where the
mirror finish has been lost or grayed but it's the etching and history of this
piece that give it the significance. This would look great with a walking out
dress uniform or tunic. $3000. More Pictures |
