112SO8 - Rare and interesting hand carved and painted commemorative wood box of Maria Dietenberger survivor of the November 8, 1939 Beerhall assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler’s life with accompanying photograph of her hospitalized with the injuries she sustained during the attempt. The inscription on photograph translates, “ In memory of the assassination attempt 8. NOV 1939 BURGERBRAUKERR.” The inscribed box reads, “ In memory of my injuries during the assassination attempt in the Burgerbraukeller ( Munchen) on 8. NOV 1939. Your dear mother, My dear Martina”. The stamp inside the lid is for the ETHNIC GERMAN WOMEN’S LEAGUE, COUNTRY GROUP BULGARIA. The box measures approximately 7.5 x 3.5 x 2.5 inches. $300.  More Photos

2112EW5 - Polizei officer sword by F.W. Holler. This fine example features a finely detailed copper grip eagle.. The black grip is tightly wire wrapped. The pommel cap, “D” guard upper and lower scabbard fittings are nickel silver indicating early construction. Seaparating the hilt from scabbard throat is the original leather buffer. There is no kulturezeichen evident on the lower crossguard or scabbard throat. This is commonly seen on Krebs constructed degens. The 33.0 inches stainless steel blade is in mint condition. The upper scabbard fitting displays the standard Nordic design motif. The black painted scabbard is in excellent condition showing minimal age wear having no rust or dents. The backstrap and “D” guard present a deeply detailed oak leaf and acorn design. The black bakelite grip is tightly wrapped with double row wire. There are no chips or cracks in the grip. The crossguard’s eagle represents the Wehrmacht Heer adler and shows nice gilding consistent wit the rest of the hilt. The original leather buffer is evident under the crossguard.The 33.0 inches blade presents a mirror finish. The black scabbard paint displays very light age related wear having no rust or dings. The black bakelite grip is tightly wire wrapped with no separations in the double row wire. The crossguard eagle is highly detailed showing 100% of its gilt finish. The reverse side langet is unmarked. The full length 36.0 inches mirror finish blade is in mint condition. The Clemen & Jung maker’s stamp is displayed on the reverse side of the blade under the langet. The black satin painted scabbard shows minimal loss of finish and is free of dents and scratches. Karl Fiehler was an early member of the NSDAP having member number 37. In 1923 he joined Hitler in the famous “Beerhall Putsch” and served time in prison with Hitler. Reichsleiter Fiehler’s portrait image appears on the cover of John Angolia’s book,” Cloth Insignia of the NSDAP and SA”, Published by R. James Bender Publishing, 1985. Above the scene is depicted ancient warriors on the field of battle with winged Victory hovering. The various campaigns Obergefreiter Bohm participated in with his unit are listed to the bottom right beginning with 1939: SIERADZ-BZURA- WARSCHAU up through 1942: DON-KALATSCH-STALINGRAD. Stalingrad was the epic winter struggle of 1942 that resulted in the defeat of the German 6th Army under Field Marshal v. Paulus with a loss of 600,000 men. Ferdinand Liebermann (1883-1941) received numerous commissions for sculptures before and during the Third Reich period until his death in 1941 at age 58. This outstanding bronze sculpture of Adolf Hitler is considered one of his finest. The bust measures 26.0 inches in height including the marble base. 2111U3 - Army Panzer Grenadier Hauptmann's tunic. This outstanding tunic features the grass green waffenfarbe of a Panzer Grenadier. The panzer grenadier units were motorized infantry most often used as support for panzer armored units. This tunic presents matching removable shoulder boards each with two rank pips indicating the rank of hauptmann ( captain) and machine sewn matching collar tabs. Above the right pleated and scalloped breast pocket is an officer’s bullion eagle. Sewn into the second buttonhole is a ribbon for the Iron Cross 2nd Class. Sewn on the left breast pocket are two sets of loops for the officer’s decorations. The interior is lined with artificial silk. The tailor’s label is sewn onto the interior pocket. This outstanding example of the Gauleiter car flag features the beautifully embroidered NSDAP eagle in gold bullion thread over a white a red background. Gauleiters were the equivalent of German state governors and held authority over all NSDAP related activity. The car flag is quadrisected in four red and white alternating triangles with the letters G L embroidered in gold bullion on the red. 2111SO5 - 1933 dated large bronze plaque of Adolf Hitler by Artur Berthold. This stunning plaque measures with frame approximately 21.5 x 18.5 inches. The bronze is an elegant profile of Adolf Hitler and titled UNSERE FUHRER “ Our Fuhrer”. On the lower left corner is inscribed “ REICHSANERKANNT. The artists initials AB are below the profiled image. The interior is lined with weather resistant copper brown cotton. The rhomboid celluloid sweat diamond is intact over the LEPARO maker’s stamp. Luftwaffe Administration General’s theater made tropical tunic

2111SO1 - Luftwaffe Administration General’s theater made tropical tunic. This rare tunic presents matching Administration General’s collar tabs with a dark green wool base material with gold twistcord borders and bullion wreaths each with a gold central diamond. The shoulder boards are removable with a white overlay as worn by Luftwaffe generals and a base with a dark green waffenfarbe indicating the administrative position. These boards are slightly mismatched in size with the general using what insignia was available in the theater. This tunic has four gold front buttons and a gold button on each of the breast and hip scalloped and pleated pockets. Along the open neck collar is machine sewn heavy twistcord gold piping. Over the right breast pocket, the general elected to have his gold general’s continental eagle sewn. This eagle displays wear having been removed from his four pocket blue service tunic. The interior is unmarked as is expected of theater made uniforms. This tunic shows sun fading particularly in the armpit area and underside of each sleeve. $5,000.  More Photos

2111H3 - Near mint and named Polizei Gendarmerie motorcycle leather helmet by Erel. This exemplary example features a brown leather dome exterior including the visor. An aluminum Polizei eagle is affixed to the upper front. A padded band encircles the helmet above the visor to give added protection. An extended leather protective ear flaps. The matching brown leather chinstraps with buckle instrap extends separately extends along the sides under the chinstraps. The interior’s leather liner is stamped size 59 along with a silver maker’s stamp indicating Robert Lubstein. The liner is fully intact along with its drawstring. The interior dome further displays a name tag with the name Wannemacher along with a separately glued Robert Lubstein cloth tag. A perfect example. $1850.  More Photos

2111H2 - Army M42 field cap. This cap is distinguished from the m38 by the addition of two front buttons intend to close the side panels to provide protect during the cold winter. 2110SO3 - Exceedingly rare 1940 dated SS “Wedding Plate”. This magnificent example of German wood carving was given as a wedding gift from one SS officer to another on the occasion of his wedding. The plate is hand-carved oak. The obverse presents deeply carved SS runics along with an oak leaf and acorn motif. Along the upper perimeter is carved the SS motto, “Meine Ehre Heisst Treue” ( My Honour is Loyalty). Along the bottom portion is carved “Die Treue Dem Fuhrer” ( Loyalty to the Fuhrer) On the plate’s reverse side is roughly carved the inscription that translates “ Congratulations on your wedding to my friend at Wewelsburg dated 16. The black, ribbed mohair band also free of distractions displays an enamel unit pin. The black vulcanfiber visor shows age crazing that does not detract from the hat’s overall presentation. The interior displays the Erel mint green lining used for the construction of Erel’s PRIVAT line. PRIVAT was Erel’s highest quality hat. The complete Erel rhomboid sweat diamond displays the PRIVAT designation. The complete leather sweatband is also embossed with the Erel logo. The hat is a large size 59/60. Waffen SS Assault Gun wrap.

218U5 - Waffen SS Assault Gun wrap. This lightly worn wrap was more than likely manufactured at the Dachau clothing center as evidenced by the heavy coarse wool. The wrap features the expected SS cut demonstrated by the angle of the front closure and lack of rear seam. The collar tabs are factory machine sewn. The matching shoulder straps present red waffenfarbe as worn by artillery units. The left embroidered SS arm eagle is a factory zig-zag machine stitched. All front closure, cuff and internal buttons are original to the wrap. Over the area of the lower left breast is a single set of loops more than likely applied for display of a General Assault badge. There is a handsewn campaign ribbon for the Winterschlacht im Osten 1941-1942 medal (Eastern Front medal) sewn into the upper buttonhole. The interior is partially lined with gray rayon hbt material. The interior left breast area is stamped with the size. An outstanding example of a relatively rare SS combat wrap. $13,000.  More Photos

218F3 - NSKK Company Guidon (Wimple) for the 13th Sturm of Motorstandarte 51. This fine example measures 23x 45 inches. The upper corner diamond indicates the Sturm and unit on a dark green field indicating Leipzig, Nordmark or Sachsen. Chain stitched on a separately sewn red field four sub-units are indicated. On a separate diamond below the sub-units is the NSKK driver emblem chain-stitched on a black field. The triangular wimple is bordered with aluminum tresse. The end of the wimple shows several triangular rows of reenforced stitching. The hoist side retains its four original clips for attachment. The NSKK was organization was developed as a an arm of the SA for the purpose of training drivers for the military. $1800.  More Photos

215USU1 - USAAF named uniform of 2nd Lieutenant Earl Triebes, Ser. # 02072551, 8th Air Force navigator. This set includes the service blouse, pants and khaki long sleeve shirt. The coat features bullion navigator wings and theater made 8th AF shoulder sleeve insignia. On each should epaulette is affixed the rank bar of a second lieutenant. Above the right breast pocket is the single purple ribbon bar signifying a unit citation. Above his right breast pocket are his ribbons for the award of the Air Medal with palm, European-African-Eastern Campaign, American Campaign and World War II Victory. The olive wool is in excellent condition. The interior displays the tailor's label as Kahn Tailoring Co., Indianapolis. A custom-made tag with the letters "ET" signifying Lt. Earl Triebes is sewn above the inside pocket. Sewn inside the pocket is a label with Earl Triebes' name and dated 8/44. With the service blouse comes the officer regulation khaki wool shirt. The shirt is in excellent condition being free of stains and mothing. The OD dark wool trousers match the service blouse and are nicely marked Uniforms, Serice, Officers 2-Piece (Trousers), Dated 9/15/42. With this unform comes research informing the reader that 2nd Lt. Triebes served with the B-17 Bomber crew of the 358th Leach Crew, Joseph V. Leach, Pilot. A period photo of the crew taken 01 Feb 1945 shows 2nd Lt. Triebes in the back row. $1200.  More Photos

218H4 - Zolldienst officer’s visor hat by Erel. This fine example features the stylized Zolldienst (Customs) eagle and kokarde. The feldgrau wool is in perfect condition having no mothing or stains. The green wool felt capband is free of mothing. The crown and capband waffenfarbe is dark green as was worn by the Customs service. The aluminum officer’s chincords are interspersed with flecks of gray that is also characteristic of the Customs service. The interior is lined with golden/yellow artificial silk. The rhomboid celluloid shield with the Erel maker’s logo is fully intact indicating “STANDARD” quality condition and size 54. 218H3 - Luftwaffe NCO/enlisted 1938 dated Nachtrichten (Signals) visor hat. This perfect example features copper brown crown and capband waffenfarbe denoting attachment to a Signals unit. The exterior Luftwaffe blue wool is in perfect condition being free of mothing and stains. The black ribbed mohair capband is also free of mothing and stains. The black visor displays normal light age. And is in near perfect condition. The lacquered leather chinstrap is also in perfect condition. The 2nd style aluminum eagle and winged kokarde are the standard insignia worn on this hat. The interior is lined with copper coloured oilcloth cotton. The rhomboid sweat diamond is complete. Beneath the sweat diamond is stamped the maker’s name Kurschner u. Mutzenmacher Genossenschaft, Rheinland-Westfallen. The size 54 and the 1938 date also appear. The front perforated leather sweatband is complete and free of any breaks in the leather. Beneath the leather sweatband is stamped the unit, location and date. Very rare Luftwaffe officer crusher by Paul Kaps

218H2 - Very rare Luftwaffe officer crusher by Paul Kaps. I’ve only seen two of these previously and one was in a book. This crusher features standard Luftwaffe officer crown and capband aluminum piping and bullion insignia. Also present is the officer aluminum chincord. This cap made by Paul Kaps is a true crusher and not a “50 Missions” visor made to look like a crusher. The lacquered leather visor and capband are fully pliable with the capband being made with lacquered buckram rather than the normal pasteboard that provides a stiffer support and shape.. The interior is lined with black rayon and is fainted stamped with the Paul Kaps logo. The cap retains its complete gray leather sweatband with an embossed KAPS maker’s name. $2500.  More Photos

Army double decal M35 by Eisenhutten-Thale

218H1 - Army double decal M35 by Eisenhutten-Thale. This excellent example features the Heer adler and the national escutcheon shield. Each shield retains upwards of 90% of it design. The smooth dark field gray paint finish was introduced prior to the production of the model 1940 model helmet. The exterior finish presents light period wear. The interior retains its complete leather liner stamped size 54. On the left side of the apron is stamped the maker and shell size ET62. Along the back on the apron is stamped the production number 4082 that indicates it was probably produced sometime during 1938 after switching from the “apple-green” finish. The dome stamp is evident but has faded. The leather chinstrap has shortened but what remains of the maker’s stamp can still be seen. Overall an excellent example. $3500.  More Photos

The front is closed with four gilt anchor buttons as are the two breast and hip pockets. All buttons are detachable for laundering. Above the right breast is a gilt metal breast eagle. The interior is is devoid of stamps but retains its original sewn-in maker’s paper tag indicating manufacture by Uniformbekleidung Ernst Muller, Berlin and the size. Inside one of the pockets was found another paper tag as shown indicating MARINE BEKLEIDUNGSAMT KIEL, WEISSES-JACKET and size.. 218U1 - Kriegsmarine tropical four pocket tunic. This unissued heavy cotton drill tan tunic features four brownt anchor buttons as are the two breast and hip pockets. All buttons are detachable for laundering. Above the right breast is a machine and hand-stitched factory woven Kriegsmarine tropical breast eagle. The interior is stamped under the inside lapel with the maker’s name C.STEUERNAGEL, WORMS and size 45 92 67. An additional cloth size tag is sewn to the bottom hem. Knights Cross winner Oberstleutnant Ludwig Streil four pocket service tunic

218SO1 - Knights Cross winner Oberstleutnant Ludwig Streil four pocket service tunic. Oberstleutnant Ludwig Streil was born January 21, 1893 in Zusamzell, Bavaria and entered the military on October 23, 1912 in the 8th Company of the 1. Bayerisches Infantry Regiment.
During his time in service Streil was promoted to Tapferkeits- Offzier for his bravery in combat. By October 24, 1914 Unteroffizier Streil had been awarded the Iron Cross IInd Class while serving on the Western Front. While engaged in combat operations in the vicinity of Vermandovilliers, France his actions resulted in the awarding of Bavaria’s highest award given to NCO’s Die Goldene Tapfereitmedaille for his bravery as a combat scout. On June 23, 1916 at Fleury, France, Corporal Sreil along with two other men, attacked a machinegun emplacement during this attack, Streil was wounded three times in the neck, shoulder and lung. Left severely wounded and waiting for medical assistance, subsequent shell fire resulted in additional schrapnel wounds. Following his recovery, Streil was promoted from Vizefeldwebel ( Senior NCO) to Leutnant der Reserve des KONIGLICH Bayerischen Infanterie- Leibregiment for his bravery. He was only one of 230 NCO’s to be promoted to officer ranks in all services during World War I for his valor. In October 1918 Leutnant Streil was awarded the Wound Badge in Gold for his combat inflicted wounds. Following the 1918 Armistice ending hostilities, Streil was discharged. In 1919 Streil became active in Freikorps Epp and later transitioned into the Reichswehr. During the inter-war period Streil rose through the officer ranks reaching the rank of Major while posting with various Reichswehr and later Wehrmacht military schools. On April 1, 1938 Ludwig Streil was promoted to Oberstleutnant while attached to Infantrie Regiment 62. On August 1, 1939 Streil was transferred to the 7th Infantrie Division that soon participated in the invasion of Poland. The division was transferred to the West for the invasions of Belgium and France. On the day of May 17, 1940 near Infanterie Regiment 61 near the Charleroi Canal while making preparations for further advance, Oberstleutnant Streil’s command came under heavy artillery attack during which time he was killed.
Oberstleutant Ludwig Streil was posthumously promoted to Oberst and awarded the Knights Cross on June 30, 1941 for his outstanding leadership during the Belgium Campaign that resulted in his death.
This four pocket service tunic features matching sewn-in shoulder boards for the rank of Oberstleutnant. The two matching bullion officer collar tabs display white waffenfarbe for Infantry. On each of the shoulders are sewn-in Oberstleutnant boards. These boards had at one time postwar added cyphers that have been removed. Above the right breast pocket is a standard officer bullion silver wire eagle that displays wear commensurate with the rest of the tunic. On the area of the left breast pocket are three sets of loops for decorations. The pleated pockets are deeply scalloped. The tunic displays very minor age-related mothing and stains. The interior shows period wear and perspiration stains. Inside the left breast pocket named to Oberstleunant Streil dated January 8, 1940 with the Kuhn & NUPNAU Munich tailor’s label. $3000.  More Photos
