0710EW27 - Bahnschutz, Railway Leader's Dagger by Carl Eickhorn - They don't come much nicer or rarer than this! This very rare dagger features a mint dagger has a near flawless black celluloid swirled grip. The pommel with the moving swastika is bright and unscratched. The lower crossguard features the winged railroad eagle. The dull finish, aluminum scabbard is undented and in mint condition. The blade bearing the Eickhorn logo shows 100% crossgraining. If you've been looking for one of the rarest of Third Reich daggers, this one would be near impossible to upgrade. More Photos

0411EW2-1small.jpg

0411EW2 - NPEA Chained Officer dagger. This dagger is a rare piece! The unchipped, chocolate brown grip features an aluminum eagle. The grip fits the upper and lower plated crossguards perfectly. The reverse of the lower crossguard is marked with the school stamp "N473". The crossguards do show minor lifting and wear. The tang nut appears unturned. The blade is mostly bright with minor "smudging". The motto "Mehr sein als scheinen" is clearly etched. The buffer is intact. The distributor of course was Karl Bergsmuller, Berlin. The scabbard retains most of its original olive green paint. The plated silver fittings show normal wear. The chain shows roughly soldered brass links that connect to the middle scabbard fitting. The clip is unsprung and DRGM marked. This very rare textbook example. More Photos

0711so1 - Aluminum Army Paratroop Badge (Fallschirmschutzen - Abzeichen des Heeres). This extremely rare badge (aluminum version) features the stylized diving Heer eagle. The Heer maintained a separate Fallschirminfantrie kompanie and later regiment until January 1, 1938 at which time it was incorporated into the Luftwaffe. Fallschirmjager who worn this badge after this date had previously been awarded the army version and allowed to wear the badge. This makes the early aluminum version very rare being that its production was discontinued after tombak became the primary material of construction prior to the outbreak of war. This badge shows use and has wear to the finish. There is a period repaired catch that protrudes through the wreath. This is a textbook example and will make a great centerpiece for anyone who collects badges, Luftwaffe, Heer or Fallschirmjager.  More Photos

088so1-1small.jpg (36140 bytes)

088so1 - SS Junkerschule Bad Tolz Chronicle. During World War II, the Waffen SS earned a reputation for prowess in combat that rivaled that of any elite fighting force. A primary reason was the novel and dynamic leadership training at the SS Junkerschulen, or "Schools for Young Gentlemen," where officer candidates enrolled. The flagship institution, Bad Tolz, began courses in April 1934. It commissioned nearly one thousand 2nd lieutenants a year, accepting men from 32 nations during the war. Perhaps the most intriguing artifact from Bad Tolz to survive is the Chronicle of the 2nd Training Section. It provides a visual and written narrative of successive classes from 1937 through July 27, 1943. The handsomely bound, oversize volume is fitted with sheets of translucent onion skin protecting the parchment. The text, hand rendered in gothic calligraphy, consists of entries from class participants. Some 40 brush & ink and watercolor illustrations depict various elements of the course, patriotic themes, and caricatures of instructors. Most of the 114 high resolution photographs are unpublished. They include camera portraits of (identified) officers and Junkers, group photographs of individual classes, and images of field exercises and instruction. Maps and charts show the location of training facilities housing various SS divisions and duty stations. Though some of the book's 150 pages have tears none are missing. Approximately 31 photographs have been removed, without disrupting the continuity of the text and visuals. The inscription on the inside cover reveals that a sergeant in the U.S. Army 287th Combat Engineer Battalion captured the chronicle in May 1945. What was then a cumbersome, 12-pound souvenir is today a vivid, personalized record of life at a legendary military academy, reflecting the spirit of the times as no historian could ever convey. The Bad Tolz Chronicle offers a historic, unique, and graphic impression of the heartbeat of the Waffen SS, from the perspective of the idealistic young volunteers learning to command. An incomparable, one-of-a-kind. More Photos

091SO6 - Geheime Staatspolizei (Gestapo) Warrant Disc with chain. This disc, issued to members of the Gestapo, granted almost unlimited powers of access and interrogation. The nickel silver disc features the state eagle on the obverse and words GEHEIME STAATPOLIZEI with the issuance number "2466" (a very low number) on the reverse. This disc is in excellent condition showing fine detail. The disc is accompanied with a letter of authenticity written by the foremost authority on these rare pieces - Don Bible. Very rare and hard to find with the chain. $ More Photos

079H27 - Kriegsmarine officer's tropical visored Schirmutze. This very rare officer's version of the Luftwaffe Hermann Meyer is stunning. It features cello insignia with a metallic cockade. The chincords are likewise cello. The copper brown cotton material is mint except for a very minor water stain on the visor. It doesn't detract at all. The eagle and cockade are neatly hand-stitched to the cap body. The interior is lined with dark green cotton and maker stamped with the 57 ½ size. The brown leather sweatband is 100%.  More Photos

086EW1-1small.jpg

086EW1 - SS officer's type II chained dagger (M36), named with portepee. This dagger has it all! Not only is this dagger in fantastic condition, the original's officer's number is etched into the reverse of the lower nickel crossguard. To begin, this dagger features, all nickel silver fittings. The SS button is straight up-and-down. The grip eagle shows deep definition giving it great detail. The black grips are free of chips and cracks. Tied to the grip is a portepee which indicates wear by an Waffen SS officer. The upper and lower crossguards are as nice as you would like to see. The reverse of the lower crossguard has the officer's SS number "54583" neatly etched into the silver. Researching this number we learned that the dagger belonged to Felix Baungartner. Baumgartner entered the SA in 1932 and later served on the staff of SS-Absnitt XXVII in 1939 . Later he went on to hold positions with 6. Sturm/II. Sturmbann/Ersatz SS Totenkopfverbande and transferred to the Waffen SS September 1, 1939 (Poland). He instructed at Bad Tolz and went on to serve with THE 10th SS Panzer Grenadier Div. (Frundsberg), Totenkopf Div. and Das Reich. Baumgartner held the rank of Obersturmbannfuhrer in 1945. Baumgartner was awarded the SS Totenkopfring (Honor Ring). The painted scabbard is one of the nicest I have ever seen showing minimal wear and scratches to the black finish front and back. The chain has no signs of repair made to the connecting links. The alternating links of skulls and runes all show excellent detail. Moving to the blade I see no signs of pitting. The crossgraining is very apparent. There are no problems! The motto, "Meine Ehre Heisst Treue" is deeply etched with excellent background burnishing. This historical piece would be a real challenge to upgrade. The dagger comes with copies of Baumgartner's service record.  More Photos

The small gilt metal NSKK eagle is centered above the wreathed cockade. This hat allowed for no rank distinctions. The white top top shows age soiling but there are no breaks or teras in the fabric. The interior features white silk lining and a complete and unmarked sweat diamond. The brown leather sweatband is complete and unmarked. There is a brown RZM tag that indicates a manufacture date of 1934. The size is approximately 57. This is an excellent example of one very rare Third Reich cap!  More Photos

083H3-1small.jpg (28133 bytes)

083H3 - NSDAP Political Leader's white top visor hat for Kreis level official. This beautiful and rare white silk example was worn for ceremonial dress occasions. The black piping of Kreisleiter was replaced in 1939 with white. This hat features a stunning golden political eagle over the newer style wreathed cockade that replaced the circular rondel with swastika. This hat has a Havana brown capband and light brown visor. Above and below the capband is the black piping. The white silk cap body shows minor age soiling and light brown stains along the upper edge of the hat. These do not detract from the general appearance of this wonderful hat. The golden chincords are cello. The interior of the hat is lined with copper-brown cotton with a size marked sweat diamond as is common in political visors. The artificial leather sweatband shows wear and is complete. Under the sweatband is the expected RZM tag. Great hat!  More Photos

0410mab3-1small.jpg (26161 bytes)

0410mab3 - Antipartisan badge in silver. First instituted by H. Himmler in January 1944 this award was presented to individuals primarily attached to SS and police units assigned to combating partisans in occupied countries. The silver grade badge was awarded for 50 days of antipartisan service. The obverse of this badge features entwined snakes pierced by a sword bearing the swastika. At the bottom of the wreath is a skull. There are two "cut-outs" between the snakes heads. The badge still retains a respectable degree of its original silver finish but zinc badges often don't retain their finish very well. The reverse of this hollow back zinc award features a narrow fluted pin and "c" catch. Very rare award and often reproduced.   More Photos

074so1-1small.jpg (36140 bytes)

074so1 - Knight's Cross by Klein & Quenzer. This highly sought-after piece is generally accepted to be the most coveted award in the German Wehrmacht. With just over 7,000 of these awarded, this is a very rare item of Third Reich militaria. Ritterkreutzstrager's (holder's of the Knight's Cross) were considered "national heros" and were often given a hero's reception upon returning from the front. All too often many did not return to receive their former award document. This piece features the characteristics of the L/65 Knight's Cross. The donut shaped eye on the top arm that the suspension loop passes through and the suspension loop marked 800 and 65. The reverse upper arm of the cross is stamped 800. The cross comes with a wearing ribbon in mint condition. The ribbon has machine sewn eyelets for attachment to shirt buttons. The cross shows very minor wear on the reverse and is in excellent to near mint condition on the obverse.  More Photos

068u1-1small.jpg (36140 bytes)

068U1 - Allegmeine SS Unterscharfuhrer tunic and trousers. This early, stunning uniform features "tricot", ribbed wool with all original, untouched insignia. The braided twistcord shoulder board is in pristine condition as is the "Old Fighter's Chevron" on the right sleeve and the matching, twistcord aluminum boarded collar tabs on each lapel. The right lapel tab features an Arabic numeral "10" (Fuss-Standarten) while the left tab features the single pip indicating the rank of sergeant. There is an aluminum bordered cuffband with the Arabic numeral "3" indicating Nurnberg. Everything about this tunic down to the carefully hand-stitched, twistcord shoulder piping indicates high-quality construction. This is a tailor-made piece with the Homberg tailor's label being sewn into the back of the tunic. There is no name tag. There are three original loops for badges on the left breast pocket. There is no damage whatsoever to this uniform. The rear of the tunic displays fine tailoring with the two aluminum buttons that allow the cross-strap to be held securely in place. Sorry, I don't have the cross-strap. The trousers feature the white wool piping that extends down the side of each pant leg. This is the straight-legged style rather than the riding breeches. There are no labels in the pants. All fastening buttons match as on the tunic. This complete and untouched uniform is very rare being that a great many of these were stripped after 1940 and sent to the foreign occupied countries to be worn by their SS and police auxiliary units. This uniform was probably not sent out of Deutchland due to it being a private purchase uniform. This example is also rare in that it is "untouched".  More Photos

066u1-1small.jpg (36140 bytes)

066U1 - Kriegsmarine service tunic belonging to Konteradmiral Hans Michahelles. This early, ten button high quality tunic, visor hat and brocade belt are attributed to Hans Michahelles who was born in Nuernberg May 16, 1899, died June 14, 1975 in Hamberg-Blankensee.. The tunic is for the rank of Kapitan zur See and by the 1934 nametag on the inside pocket he held that rank during the very early Third Reich period. Later promoted to Konteradmiral, Michahelles received his KNIGHT'S CROSS on/ about April 30, 1945 as Kommandant Fortress Gironde North. This award made him one of the last RK recipients of the RK. The tunic comes with his WWI prinze size EKII ribbon with 1939 spange. There are two original loops on the left breast. (The EKI and destroyer badge (ShU ) have been added and go with the set). The breast eagle is a beautiful one highlighted with accent threads. There is no mothing or stains. The brocade belt is an early KM officer's featuring the suspension hooks for a KM sword. The visor hat is original with high quality bullion/cello highlighted eagle and standard bullion cockade. The mohair capband is turned so that the seam appears on the side. I've seen this before in KM visors so I didn't lose any sleep over this. The interior features a gray leather sweatband, KM blue rayon lining and an unmarked sweatshield that is missing a corner section. There is a soft sponge under the leather sweatband. The really intriguing piece that accompanies the set is a letter written by Michahelles in 1966 to a US collector. In it he writes that he is returning two photos and separates himself from the war years. He further expresses that he hopes is uniform will not be put to poor use.  More Photos

The Oakleaves with Swords to the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross

095SO6 - The Oakleaves with Swords to the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross. Oakleaf Militaria,Inc. is proud to offer this very rare Third Reich military award made solely by the Gebruder Godet & Co. The Type 2 Swords are marked 900 21. This extremely high level decoration was presented to only 150 recipients (an additional 9 could not be confirmed through official documentation according to researcher and author Veit Scherzer). The "Swords" (Schwerten) were first presented in 1941 to Luftwaffe aces Galland, Molders, Oesau and Lutzow for their contributions during the Battle of Britain. The Kriegsmarine awarded the Swords only to Otto Kretchmer their top scoring U-Boat ace. By 1942 a total of 13 had been awarded to the Luftwaffe, 2 awarded for the Kriegsmarine and only 3 for the Army. These untouched and near mint Type 2 Swords feature the high quality craftsmanship typical of the Gebruder Godet & Co. All the correct die flaw characteristics associated with the Type 2 Swords are documented in the "Expertise" document provided by Dietrich Maerz author of The Knights Cross of the Iron Cross published by B&D Publishing, LLC, 2007. The swords feature a patina consistent with other examples found by soldiers of the 3rd Infantry Division of the U.S. Army in the safe at Schloss Klessheim near Berchtesgaden in 1945. Knights Cross of Ernst Neufeld awarded at Stalingrad

095SO3 - Knights Cross of Ernst Neufeld awarded at Stalingrad. This Knights Cross is attributed to Ernst Neufeld with a copy of pages from his Soldbuch. Oberfeldwebel Ernst Neufeld was awarded the Knights Cross for his actions as Zugfuhrer (unit leader) of the 2. Kompany das Kradschutzen - Bataillons 40. at Stalingrad on January 3, 1943. Ernst Neufeld ended the war as an Oberleutnant. The Knights Cross is a Juncker marked L/12 800. This Knights Cross features the correct stamps for the 800 silver content and C.E. Juncker's L/12 LDO number. The 800 and L/12 markings are properly positioned on the upper arm of the cross under the bale (ring through which the suspension loop passes). The magnetic cross weighs 34.1 grams with the silver suspension loop. The suspension ring is also marked "800". The loop has "cut ends". All the proper die flaws and cross-hatching is present as described in Dietrich Maerz's highly informative reference book, "The Knights Cross of the Iron Cross", published by B&D Publishing, LLC, copyright 2007. The cross further exhibits the excellent detail expected in Juncker made pieces with a high relief central swastika and dates. The cross comes with an original "wearing" ribbon that measures 19 inches. It was reported that the Neufeld cross was purchased directly from the Ritterkreutztrager who permitted copies from pages of his Soldbuch to be made. Herr Neufeld provided the buyer with his original Life-Saving Society membership card dated 6. October 1938 with his photo attached. Given by Herr Neufeld at the time of purchase is a wartime autographed photo of Neufeld wearing his Knights Cross. $14,000. More Photos

077so1 - SS Totenkopfring dated 1943. - This SS Honor Ring is an excellent example of one of the most sought after SS awards. The ring is dated June 21, 1943. The recipient's name has been intentionally scratched, but it appears to be "Hurtiling" or "Huetiling". The inscriptions: SLb., Hurtiling (?), date and H. Himmler are finely jeweler engraved. The joiner seam is apparent behind the skull. The exterior of the ring shows light wear with the double runes on the rear panel showing the most. The remaining runes are still highly distinguishable. This ring is an overall excellent example showing a modest amount of light and normal wear. The ring is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity written by Don Boyle famous author of "SS Totenkopf H. Himmler Honor Ring 1933-1945". More Photos

079U7 - SS M44 smooth cotton fabric dot pattern camouflage tunic and matching pants. An identical uniform of this pattern is pictured in M. Beaver's book, "Camouflage Uniforms of the Waffen SS", p. 221. This rare uniform This is one rare uniform features (I believe) a factory applied sleeve eagle as seen by the loose zig-zag stitching. The stitching that secures the buttons all matches but one button is smooth rather than pebbled. The interior is nicely size stamped on the hbt rayon facing under the right armpit along with Betr. Ra (Ravensbruch?). The pants match the tunic. The pants feature zinc suspender buttons but one is missing at the front right hip. The pants are size stamped along the right rear waistband. All the ties at the ends of the pant legs are present. One of the side adjusting cinch-belts is made using HBT material which is interesting to see but I'm not surprised considering the shortage of materials. More Photos
