This very rare offering is displayed in the 1943 Organsationsbuch der NSDAP on page 27. The reverse of the hanger is RZM marked. The holster's flap has a party eagle unique to the holster. The gold brocade cross strap features embroidered oak leaves within a brown border. SS Dachau Concentration Camp tunic of Hauptscharfuhrer Walter Miltsch

101SO2 - SS Dachau Concentration Camp tunic of Hauptscharfuhrer Walter Miltsch. Witness to one of history's darkest episodes, this SS tunic is perhaps the only surviving example named to a concentration camp guard. Privately tailored, it corresponds in appearance to the Model 1935 standard army tunic which the SS adopted in March 1938. It is fully lined, an upgrade characteristic of private purchase uniforms for commissioned officers and senior NCOs. The liner fabric is light brown, rayon faux satin. Another feature of this tailor-made tunic is the inside button-down pocket on the right side. Below the opening is sewn the name tag reading, " Miltsch W. "

The tunic itself is cut from wool gabardine of officer's quality. Each sleeve has three vertical seams. The use of three vertical panels to form a sleeve instead of a single, broader length of material suggests that only a partial bolt may have been available. Enlisted grade wool was in supply at SS clothing depots, which were often established at concentration camps. Higher quality gabardine however, would likely be scarcer at these rural facilities. The non-regulation construction of the garment may indicate that the tailor was an inmate who customized the uniform according to available resources and his or her visual perception of the Model 1935's physical characteristics. This tunic has a custom tailored collar liner.

Though the surface of the fabric shows mothing, the striking insignia greatly enhances the tunic's overall appearance. The hand-sewn, right collar tab features a horizontal skull wrought in hand-embroidered aluminum wire. The left side rank tab indicates the rank of Hauptscharfuhrer (SS master sergeant). Upon Miltsch's promotion the tab was lifted to add a vertical Litzen strip and then sewn back down. The hand-sewn sleeve eagle is an officer's aluminum flatwire; like the skull tab a private purchase upgrade. The dark green wool felt collar and shoulder straps display the machine sewn silver tresse denoting sergeant's rank.

The matching shoulder straps with black underlay are textbook SS. They are bordered with extremely rare copper-brown waffenfarbe, the service branch color for concentration camp staff. The matching pebbled aluminum buttons are field gray and are all stamped "RZM/SS" on the reverse. Hand-sewn on the right sleeve is the silver-and-black SS Ehrenwinkel, "Old Fighters" chevron which individuals affiliated with the NSDAP prior to January 30, 1933, were authorized to wear. On the lower sleeve is also the dark green wool felt army specialty patch for Oberschirrmeister, or technical sergeant in the motor pool. It indicates the wearer was a senior mechanic and/or driver. "Ref. Cloth Insignia of the SS, by LTC. (Ret.) John R. Angolia Assisted by Stan Cook, Roger James Bender Publishing, Copyright 1983, pp. 432". Qualified SS personnel initially wore army trade patches on their uniforms. The style for Oberschirrmeister is one of the few patterns bordered in silver thread instead of white cotton. The upper left side of the tunic has three loops for a ribbon bar. There are two sets of loops for metal decorations below the pocket flap.

The grouping includes photocopies of original documents from Walter Miltsch's SS personnel file. They list details of his career such as postings, awards and performance evaluation. He was born near Rosenheim in the Bavarian Alps in 1909. Miltsch enlisted in the SA, the brown-shirted para-military organization that protected speakers and kept order at NSDAP assemblies, in November 1927. He transferred to the SS in 1936. Miltsch was posted to Dachau concentration camp where he was responsible for the transportation of inmates to Hartheim Castle where they were executed under the T4 euthenasia program in 1941. Later, Hauptscharfuhrer Miltsch was posted to Konzentrationslager Mauthausen. He survived the war. During the post-war period Miltsch was both a defendant and prosecution witness at war crimes trials of former SS personnel.

A veteran of a U.S. armored division brought Miltsch's tunic home as a war souvenir. Eventually, the veteran sold the tunic to a collector who owned it for the next 35 years. The Miltsch tunic is accompanied by both provenance (an uninterrupted trail of private ownership from the war years until today) and supporting documentation connecting the artifact to the original wearer and period of manufacture. Very few SS tunics of any branch offer both criteria of authenticity. This rare SS concentration camp tunic is completely original and unaltered since the war. Price on Request. $24,900. More Photos

SS Totenkopfring (Honor Ring) awarded to SS Untersturmfuhrer Hendrik Wilhelm van Etten

113SO3 - SS Totenkopfring (Honor Ring) awarded to SS Untersturmfuhrer Hendrik Wilhelm van Etten SS Ausweis # 62939 dated 9/11/42. SS Totenkopfrings awarded to non-German volunteers in the Waffen SS are extremely rare. This SS Totenkopfring shows excellent detail in the skull and runic panels. The background stippling is also evident in the panels. The ring exhibits die flaw characteristics evident in authentic Totenkopf rings. The joiner seam is apparent beneath the original silver solder on the interior behind the skull. This ring is a medium to large size ( about 10.5). The engraving is typical of what is encountered in a 1940's style ring. The ring comes with a number of reproduced documents of Waffen SS Untersturmfuhrer van Etten's service. Hendrik Wilhelm van Etten (a Dutch national) was born 17.5.1916 in Amsterdam, Holland. He volunteered for service in the Germanische-SS Niederlande in 1941. Included in the documents is reference to Feldpost # 16284 in 1942 according to the research. The number 16284 is associated with the staff of the SS War Correspondents Kompanie/SS Panzer Grenadier Division "WIKING" where Untersturmfuhrer van Etten served as a war correspondent. The ring comes with Certificate of Authenticity from Don Boyle author of "SS Totenkopfring H. Himmler Honor Ring 1933-1945", published by IMAGE GRAPHICS , INC. 1993,1994, 1995.Copyright Don Boyle. . More Photos

Cased Adolf Hitler presentation picture frame presented to the Frau Olga Kirdorf

118SO1 - Cased Adolf Hitler presentation picture frame presented to the Frau Olga Kirdorf the widow of German industrialist Emil Kirdorf. Oakleaf Militaria is proud to offer this world-class example of the very rare cased Adolf Hitler presentation picture frame. ". The framed portrait of Adolf Hitler (10.5 x 8) is presented in a red Moroccan leather case with a large silver foil embossed National Socialist German Workers Party ( NSDAP) eagle on the cover. The inside on the presentation case is lined entirely with rich red velvet. The opposite interior side of the presentation case where the frame rests has a contoured inset fitted to accommodate the framed portrait and its folding stand. The name Frieda Thiersch is imprinted on lower portion of the interior spine of the cover as the person who crafted the leather case. The top edge of the frame is stamped "925' (silver content) and " FHW" indicating the Franz & Hermann Wandinger hallmark. The three-tiered frame is bordered with an inter-locking "Greek key" design. The frame features the stylized National Socialist state eagle centered between the "AH" initials beneath the formal portrait of Adolf Hitler. The photograph is inscribed in Hitler's own hand, " Most politely on the occasion of 17 July 1943" and Frau Olga Kirdorf on the 80th birthday in association with the most heartfelt wishes " and the signature "Adolf Hitler". Adolf Hitler sought the support of wealthy and well-known German industrialists to join the NSDAP. Emil Kirdorf was one such person. Born in 1847, Kirdorf was one of the founders of the coal mining firm, the Gelsenkirchener Begwerks AG ( GBAG). The GBAG grew to become one of Germany's largest producers of coal, iron, steel and coke. Because of Kirdorf's leading role in the industrialization of Germany's coal industry, Kirdorf won recognition as the "Bismarck of the coal industry". Kirdorf was a strong proponent of German nationalism and opponent to Marxism that was gaining support in Germany following World War I. By 1927 after attending several of Hitler's public speeches, Kirdorf met with Hitler and joined the NSDAP party. Although Kirdorf was not known to lend substantial financial support to the party, he did speak in support of the party wielding strong influence among the many workers engaged in the various companies he represented. Kirdorf also was responsible for swaying other German industrialists to support the NSDAP thus adding greater strength to the party. Kirdorf resigned his party membership in 1928 fearing that National Socialism would soon supplant Kirdorf's capitalistic ideals and non anti-Semitism. Kirdorf rejoined the NSDAP in 1934 after putting aside his once negative feelings about the party and after being courted by Hitler. Emil Kirdorf died on July 13, 1938. Accompanying the presentation picture frame is a April/May period edition of 'Das Wert", a German publication for German workers that eulogizes the recently deceased Emil Kirdorf. Included in the publication are photographs of Kirdorf's funeral. The Adolf Hitler autographed portrait with cased presentation frame was presented to Frau Kirdorf on her 80th birthday five years after the death of her husband. Price On Request. More Photos

Private Estrada served with the 526th Armored Infantry Battalion, ‘A” Company -1st Platoon. Private Estrada arrived in Normandy D-Day plus 21 with his unit where he participated in the Normandy breakout and later on December 16, 1944 saw action during the Battle of the Bulge. “Moose’ Estrada ended the war with two Bronze Stars and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge. The banner measures approximately 18.25 x 17 inches and trimmed on three sides with 1.75 inches aluminum fringe. The two white leather straps with buckles that secure the banner to the trumpet are fully intact. There is very minor moth tracking and a couple very minor nips but this does not distract from the overall appearance of the banner. Accompanying this beautiful example is a 526th A.I.B. Association newsletter dated May 2011, a signed and notarized statement made by Major Estrada along with two signed copies of period photographs. Exceptional. $9750. More Photos

early Type A micro 800 Knights Cross of the Iron Cross

1201SO2 - Very rare and early Type A micro "800" Knights Cross of the Iron Cross (Ritterkreutz) with chemical frosting by Steinhauer & Luck. Oakleaf Militaria is proud to offer this very rare original Knights Cross. This Knights Cross features the correct micro 800 silver content stamp on the reverse upper arm beneath the bale (ring through which the suspension loop passes). The magnetic cross weighs 29.9 grams with the silver suspension loop. The suspension ring is also marked "800". The 9-12 o'clock elbow die flaw is well pronounced rather than worn indicating very early S & L manufacture. This is also made evident by the chemically applied frosting that is rarely seen on Knights Crosses. Chemical frosting was replaced by painted frosting to the ribbing. This is detailed in Dietrich Maerz's highly informative reference book, " The Knights Cross of the Iron Cross", published by B&D Publishing, LLC, copyright 2007. The cross exhibits the excellent detail expected in an excellent condition worn Steinhauer & Luck made cross. The cross comes with an early and rare original presentation case not described in Dietrich Maerz's Expertise. The box is in excellent condition free of scuffing and distracting wear. The hinge is magnetic. The cross is described in detail in the "EXPERTISE" and Certificate of Authenticity by Dietrich Maerz that accompanies the Ritterkreutz. $14,000. More Photos

Extremely rare dated SS Totenkopfring ( SS Honor Ring) awarded to SS Fuhrer Grams

1202SO4 - Extremely rare dated SS Totenkopfring ( SS Honor Ring) awarded to SS Fuhrer Grams. This SS Totenkopfring shows light wear to the runic panels and skull. The ring exhibits the characteristics evident in authentic 1930's Totenkopfrings. There were only 1137 rings awarded in 1936. There are less than a handful of rings with the January 30 date known to exist. Having a January 30, 1936 award date makes this an exceedingly rare date to be found on a Totenkopfring. The joiner seam is apparent beneath the discoloration of the silver solder on the interior behind the skull. This ring is a medium to large size (about 10.5). The engraving clearly displays the dedication Slb., Grams, the date of the award 30.1.36 and H. Himmler. The ring comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Don Boyle author of "SS Totenkopfring H. Himmler Honor Ring 1933-1945", published by IMAGE GRAPHICS , INC. 1993,1994, 1995. Copyright Don Boyle. The exterior is in overall excellent condition. The interior features an officer's partial leather sweatband that is stamped. "QUALITATS MARKE". The cap is lined with the commonly seen green rayon. The interior shows normal, light wear and is free of tears and separations in the lining. Last of the chaplain's set, is the winter fur pelzmutze.
This winter fur hat features front and side fold-down panels covered with plush rabbit fur which was commonly used for these hats. The hat's body is officer quality field gray wool. The folding, fur lined panels are secured at the crown by two strips of hbt cloth used for tie strings. On the left-hand side is a single loop used for passing the tie string through when the side panels are unfolded for winter protection of the ears. The front of the cap features a flat silverwire eagle with an early nickel silver cockade. Prominent between the eagle and cockade is the unique aluimnum chaplain's cross insignia. Knight's Cross by Klein & Quenzer, L/65

095SO4 - Knight's Cross by Klein & Quenzer. This highly sought-after piece is generally accepted to be the most coveted award in the German Wehrmacht. The donut shaped eye on the top arm that the suspension loop passes through and the suspension loop marked 800 and 65. The reverse center upper arm of the cross is stamped 800. 091SO1 - U-Boat 1228 commander Oberleutant zur See Friedrich-Wilhelm Marienfeld's white top visor (schirmutze) hat. Oakleaf Militaria is proud to offer this exceptionally rare piece of U-Boat history. It is very uncommon for an authentic U-Boat commander's white top hat to be offered in the militaria collecting community. Kriegsmarine white top (sommermutze) visored hats were reserved solely for wear only by U-Boat captains during the non-regulation months. U-Boat commanders were conspicuous and readily identifiable by wearing their white hats. Oblt. Marienfeld was born in Hanover, Germany on January 1, 1920 and graduated from Kriegsmarine officer training with class of 1938. Marienfeld commanded U-4 from June 16, 1942 -January 23, 1943. There were no war patrols during this period. Oblt. Marienfeld commanded U-1228 from December 22, 1943 through the capitulation in May 1945. During this time, U-1228 had two war patrols and sunk a single warship - the Canadian Corvette Shawinigan (900 tons) on November 25, 1944. This hat shows heavy and authentic period use. The hat features a white cotton removable top with normal age and wear soiling. The black mohair capband shows wear consistent with the rest of the cap. The visor exhibits separation between its various layers of materials. The bullion scallop shows heavy verdigris and wear as does the oilcloth trim. The officer's chinstrap has held well over time. The bullion kokarde and gilt eagle show wear and discoloration consistent with the rest of the hat. The interior features gold satin that show age and wear. The sweat diamond has given way to age. The name "Marienfeld" is sewn to the inside of the white removable top. Oblt. Marienfeld surrendered U-1228 on May 17, 1945 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. This cap came out of the Portsmouth area several years ago. Friedrich-Wilhelm Marienfeld died August 26, 1973. Extremely rare - $6500. More Photos

Underneath this ring is the recipient's name, rank and date of the award. This Ehrenpokal was presented to "OBERGEFREITER GERHARD NOATSCH AM 8.5.42." Along the base of the two-piece constructed goblet are the words - "FUR BESONDERE LEISTUNG IM LUFTKRIEG", "For Special Achievement in the Air War". The underside of the goblet is stamped FEINSILBER ALPAKA AUFLAGE JOH. WAGNER & SOHN. The underside rim has two minor indentations which is common to these goblets. These do not detract from the goblet's beauty or its standing presentation. Approximately 13,000 - 15,000 of these rare and beautiful goblets were presented. $5150. More Photos

The Oakleaves with Swords to the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross

095SO6 - The Oakleaves with Swords to the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross. Oakleaf Militaria,Inc. is proud to offer this very rare Third Reich military award made solely by the Gebruder Godet & Co. The Type 2 Swords are marked 900 21. This extremely high level decoration was presented to only 150 recipients (an additional 9 could not be confirmed through official documentation according to researcher and author Veit Scherzer). The "Swords" (Schwerten) were first presented in 1941 to Luftwaffe aces Galland, Molders, Oesau and Lutzow for their contributions during the Battle of Britain. The Kriegsmarine awarded the Swords only to Otto Kretchmer their top scoring U-Boat ace. By 1942 a total of 13 had been awarded to the Luftwaffe, 2 awarded for the Kriegsmarine and only 3 for the Army. $5150. More Photos

0710EW27 - Bahnschutz, Railway Leader's Dagger by Carl Eickhorn - They don't come much nicer or rarer than this! The lower crossguard features the winged railroad eagle. The dull finish, aluminum scabbard is undented and in mint condition. The blade bearing the Eickhorn logo shows 100% crossgraining. The reverse of the lower crossguard is marked with the school stamp "N473". The crossguards do show minor lifting and wear. The tang nut appears unturned. The blade is mostly bright with minor "smudging". The motto "Mehr sein als scheinen" is clearly etched. The buffer is intact. The distributor of course was Karl Bergsmuller, Berlin. The scabbard retains most of its original olive green paint. The plated silver fittings show normal wear. The chain shows roughly soldered brass links that connect to the middle scabbard fitting. The clip is unsprung and DRGM marked. This very rare textbook example. More Photos

0711so1 - Aluminum Army Paratroop Badge (Fallschirmschutzen - Abzeichen des Heeres). This extremely rare badge (aluminum version) features the stylized diving Heer eagle. The Heer maintained a separate Fallschirminfantrie kompanie and later regiment until January 1, 1938 at which time it was incorporated into the Luftwaffe. Fallschirmjager who worn this badge after this date had previously been awarded the army version and allowed to wear the badge. This makes the early aluminum version very rare being that its production was discontinued after tombak became the primary material of construction prior to the outbreak of war. This badge shows use and has wear to the finish. There is a period repaired catch that protrudes through the wreath. This is a textbook example and will make a great centerpiece for anyone who collects badges, Luftwaffe, Heer or Fallschirmjager.  More Photos

088so1-1small.jpg (36140 bytes)

088so1 - SS Junkerschule Bad Tolz Chronicle. During World War II, the Waffen SS earned a reputation for prowess in combat that rivaled that of any elite fighting force. A primary reason was the novel and dynamic leadership training at the SS Junkerschulen, or "Schools for Young Gentlemen," where officer candidates enrolled. The flagship institution, Bad Tolz, began courses in April 1934. It commissioned nearly one thousand 2nd lieutenants a year, accepting men from 32 nations during the war. Perhaps the most intriguing artifact from Bad Tolz to survive is the Chronicle of the 2nd Training Section. It provides a visual and written narrative of successive classes from 1937 through July 27, 1943. The handsomely bound, oversize volume is fitted with sheets of translucent onion skin protecting the parchment. The text, hand rendered in gothic calligraphy, consists of entries from class participants. Some 40 brush & ink and watercolor illustrations depict various elements of the course, patriotic themes, and caricatures of instructors. Most of the 114 high resolution photographs are unpublished. They include camera portraits of (identified) officers and Junkers, group photographs of individual classes, and images of field exercises and instruction. Maps and charts show the location of training facilities housing various SS divisions and duty stations. Though some of the book's 150 pages have tears none are missing. Approximately 31 photographs have been removed, without disrupting the continuity of the text and visuals. The inscription on the inside cover reveals that a sergeant in the U.S. Army 287th Combat Engineer Battalion captured the chronicle in May 1945. What was then a cumbersome, 12-pound souvenir is today a vivid, personalized record of life at a legendary military academy, reflecting the spirit of the times as no historian could ever convey. The Bad Tolz Chronicle offers a historic, unique, and graphic impression of the heartbeat of the Waffen SS, from the perspective of the idealistic young volunteers learning to command. An incomparable, one-of-a-kind. More Photos

The nickel silver disc features the state eagle on the obverse and words GEHEIME STAATPOLIZEI with the issuance number "2466" (a very low number) on the reverse. This disc is in excellent condition showing fine detail. The disc is accompanied with a letter of authenticity written by the foremost authority on these rare pieces - Don Bible. 079H27 - Kriegsmarine officer's tropical visored Schirmutze. This very rare officer's version of the Luftwaffe Hermann Meyer is stunning. It features cello insignia with a metallic cockade. The chincords are likewise cello. The copper brown cotton material is mint except for a very minor water stain on the visor. It doesn't detract at all. The eagle and cockade are neatly hand-stitched to the cap body. The interior is lined with dark green cotton and maker stamped with the 57 ½ size. The brown leather sweatband is 100%.  More Photos

086EW1 - SS officer's type II chained dagger (M36), named with portepee. This dagger has it all! Not only is this dagger in fantastic condition, the original's officer's number is etched into the reverse of the lower nickel crossguard. To begin, this dagger features, all nickel silver fittings. The SS button is straight up-and-down. The grip eagle shows deep definition giving it great detail. The black grips are free of chips and cracks. Tied to the grip is a portepee which indicates wear by an Waffen SS officer. The upper and lower crossguards are as nice as you would like to see. The reverse of the lower crossguard has the officer's SS number "54583" neatly etched into the silver. Researching this number we learned that the dagger belonged to Felix Baungartner. Baumgartner entered the SA in 1932 and later served on the staff of SS-Absnitt XXVII in 1939 . Later he went on to hold positions with 6. Sturm/II. Sturmbann/Ersatz SS Totenkopfverbande and transferred to the Waffen SS September 1, 1939 (Poland). He instructed at Bad Tolz and went on to serve with THE 10th SS Panzer Grenadier Div. (Frundsberg), Totenkopf Div. and Das Reich. Baumgartner held the rank of Obersturmbannfuhrer in 1945. Baumgartner was awarded the SS Totenkopfring (Honor Ring). The painted scabbard is one of the nicest I have ever seen showing minimal wear and scratches to the black finish front and back. The chain has no signs of repair made to the connecting links. The alternating links of skulls and runes all show excellent detail. Moving to the blade I see no signs of pitting. The crossgraining is very apparent. There are no problems! The motto, "Meine Ehre Heisst Treue" is deeply etched with excellent background burnishing. This historical piece would be a real challenge to upgrade. The dagger comes with copies of Baumgartner's service record.  More Photos

083H3 - NSDAP Political Leader's white top visor hat for Kreis level official. This beautiful and rare white silk example was worn for ceremonial dress occasions. The black piping of Kreisleiter was replaced in 1939 with white. This hat features a stunning golden political eagle over the newer style wreathed cockade that replaced the circular rondel with swastika. This hat has a Havana brown capband and light brown visor. Above and below the capband is the black piping. The white silk cap body shows minor age soiling and light brown stains along the upper edge of the hat. These do not detract from the general appearance of this wonderful hat. The golden chincords are cello. The interior of the hat is lined with copper-brown cotton with a size marked sweat diamond as is common in political visors. The artificial leather sweatband shows wear and is complete. Under the sweatband is the expected RZM tag. Great hat!  More Photos

0410mab3 - Antipartisan badge in silver. First instituted by H. Himmler in January 1944 this award was presented to individuals primarily attached to SS and police units assigned to combating partisans in occupied countries. The silver grade badge was awarded for 50 days of antipartisan service. The obverse of this badge features entwined snakes pierced by a sword bearing the swastika. At the bottom of the wreath is a skull. There are two "cut-outs" between the snakes heads. The badge still retains a respectable degree of its original silver finish but zinc badges often don't retain their finish very well. The reverse of this hollow back zinc award features a narrow fluted pin and "c" catch. Very rare award and often reproduced.   More Photos

068U1 - Allegmeine SS Unterscharfuhrer tunic and trousers. This early, stunning uniform features "tricot", ribbed wool with all original, untouched insignia. The braided twistcord shoulder board is in pristine condition as is the "Old Fighter's Chevron" on the right sleeve and the matching, twistcord aluminum boarded collar tabs on each lapel. The right lapel tab features an Arabic numeral "10" (Fuss-Standarten) while the left tab features the single pip indicating the rank of sergeant. There is an aluminum bordered cuffband with the Arabic numeral "3" indicating Nurnberg. Everything about this tunic down to the carefully hand-stitched, twistcord shoulder piping indicates high-quality construction. This is a tailor-made piece with the Homberg tailor's label being sewn into the back of the tunic. There is no name tag. There are three original loops for badges on the left breast pocket. There is no damage whatsoever to this uniform. The rear of the tunic displays fine tailoring with the two aluminum buttons that allow the cross-strap to be held securely in place. Sorry, I don't have the cross-strap. The trousers feature the white wool piping that extends down the side of each pant leg. This is the straight-legged style rather than the riding breeches. There are no labels in the pants. All fastening buttons match as on the tunic. This complete and untouched uniform is very rare being that a great many of these were stripped after 1940 and sent to the foreign occupied countries to be worn by their SS and police auxiliary units. This uniform was probably not sent out of Deutchland due to it being a private purchase uniform. This example is also rare in that it is "untouched".  More Photos

066U1 - Kriegsmarine service tunic belonging to Konteradmiral Hans Michahelles. This early, ten button high quality tunic, visor hat and brocade belt are attributed to Hans Michahelles who was born in Nuernberg May 16, 1899, died June 14, 1975 in Hamberg-Blankensee.. The tunic is for the rank of Kapitan zur See and by the 1934 nametag on the inside pocket he held that rank during the very early Third Reich period. Later promoted to Konteradmiral, Michahelles received his KNIGHT'S CROSS on/ about April 30, 1945 as Kommandant Fortress Gironde North. This award made him one of the last RK recipients of the RK. The tunic comes with his WWI prinze size EKII ribbon with 1939 spange. There are two original loops on the left breast. (The EKI and destroyer badge (ShU ) have been added and go with the set). The breast eagle is a beautiful one highlighted with accent threads. There is no mothing or stains. The brocade belt is an early KM officer's featuring the suspension hooks for a KM sword. The visor hat is original with high quality bullion/cello highlighted eagle and standard bullion cockade. The mohair capband is turned so that the seam appears on the side. I've seen this before in KM visors so I didn't lose any sleep over this. The interior features a gray leather sweatband, KM blue rayon lining and an unmarked sweatshield that is missing a corner section. There is a soft sponge under the leather sweatband. The really intriguing piece that accompanies the set is a letter written by Michahelles in 1966 to a US collector. In it he writes that he is returning two photos and separates himself from the war years. He further expresses that he hopes is uniform will not be put to poor use.

These untouched and near mint Type 2 Swords feature the high quality craftsmanship typical of the Gebruder Godet & Co. All the correct die flaw characteristics associated with the Type 2 Swords are documented in the "Expertise" document provided by Dietrich Maerz author of The Knights Cross of the Iron Cross published by B&D Publishing, LLC, 2007. The swords feature a patina consistent with other examples found by soldiers of the 3rd Infantry Division of the U.S. Army in the safe at Schloss Klessheim near Berchtesgaden in 1945. 077so1 - SS Totenkopfring dated 1943. - This SS Honor Ring is an excellent example of one of the most sought after SS awards. The ring is dated June 21, 1943. The recipient's name has been intentionally scratched, but it appears to be "Hurtiling" or "Huetiling". The inscriptions: SLb., Hurtiling (?), date and H. Himmler are finely jeweler engraved. The joiner seam is apparent behind the skull. The exterior of the ring shows light wear with the double runes on the rear panel showing the most. The remaining runes are still highly distinguishable. This ring is an overall excellent example showing a modest amount of light and normal wear. The ring is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity written by Don Boyle famous author of "SS Totenkopf H. Himmler Honor Ring 1933-1945". More Photos

079U7 - SS M44 smooth cotton fabric dot pattern camouflage tunic and matching pants. An identical uniform of this pattern is pictured in M. Beaver's book, "Camouflage Uniforms of the Waffen SS", p. 221. This rare uniform This is one rare uniform features (I believe) a factory applied sleeve eagle as seen by the loose zig-zag stitching. The stitching that secures the buttons all matches but one button is smooth rather than pebbled. The interior is nicely size stamped on the hbt rayon facing under the right armpit along with Betr. Ra (Ravensbruch?). The pants match the tunic. The pants feature zinc suspender buttons but one is missing at the front right hip. The pants are size stamped along the right rear waistband. All the ties at the ends of the pant legs are present. One of the side adjusting cinch-belts is made using HBT material which is interesting to see but I'm not surprised considering the shortage of materials. More Photos
