The black wood grip is in overall excellent condition. The enamel SS runics button displays the slender style runes and is positioned at a tilted one o'clock position. The grip eagle presents excellent detail with virtually no wear. The blade has been cleaned but this was properly done as there is no evidence of rust or pitting. The SS motto, " Meine Ehre Heisst Treue " ( My Honor is Loyalty ) is deeply etched. As this is a factory made M36, the blade has no maker mark as it should. The full length blade displays areas of age darkening and shows no sign of re-tipping or sharpening. The M36 suspension chain features nicely burnished connecting links with the alternating SS totenkopf and SS runics showing excellent detail. All the connections are intact and show no signs of repair. The reverse of the second link is lightly hand- stamped with the SS acceptance proof as it should be as described author Siegert. - Collectors Connection - Knights Cross Presentation Document to Oberfeldwebel, w/mappe & Original AH Signature. Knights Cross presentation document with moroccan leather mappe in exceptional condition. Document
is awarded to Oberfeldwebel ALFRED TYKIEL on August 6th, 1941. Document is hand signed by Adolf Hitler. After 1941 the majority of all signatures, if not all were
facsimile stamped. This alone makes this a rare piece but that it was awarded to a Sargent makes it even more desirable. He won it as a Platoon Leader of the 10th
panzergrendier Regiment/9th Panzer Division on the Eastern Front. There, the division was part of Operation Barbarossa and was under Army Group South. Unfortunately,
I have not been able to find any documents relating the situation under which he won the KC. |

- Collectors Connection - Very rare Mappe ( presentation cover ) for the Knights Cross. This is not to be mistaken for a promotion document case. The red morroco goat skin leather folder's cover features a finely detailed imprinted gold Wehrmacht eagle. As the Knights Cross was awarded with the addition of the Oak Leaves, Swords and Diamonds, the mappe for each of the higher grades became more ornate in design of the white cover having a complex border along the front and the gold eagle. Most recipients of the Knights Cross never received their formal award document with most receiving their Knights Cross and preliminary certificate. This mappe has had professional restoration along the binder's fold. Due to the restoration, Frieda Thiersch's name appears at the bottom right side. Frieda Thiersch's studio in Berlin was the sole producer of the mappe. The red leather is in overall excellent condition. Suggested price is $4,000. More Photos |

- Collectors Connection - Extremely rare Ehrenbecher für dem Sieger im Luftkampfe. The Honor Goblet for the Victor in Air Combat was first instituted in 1915 and awarded through1917. The goblet was originally awarded after the first aerial victory but as the war progressed, later requirements increased the number of downed aerial opponents. Two fighting eagles represent the German pilot claiming victory over his aerial opponent. Along the base is the inscribed, "The Victor in Air Combat". The base is supported on four balls. This goblet is constructed of silver plated rolled and stamped iron. Earlier awarded goblets were made of 800 silver. As silver became scarce over the course of the war silver plated iron or materials were substituted. This silver plate example is not silver nor magnetic. The bottom of the goblet presents the stamp of the "Chef des Feldflugwesens" or "Chief of Aviation in the Field". Imperial era Ehrenbecher goblets were not inscribed with the recipient's name, rank or date. The Ehrenbecher was awarded with a certificate with the flyer's name and date of the award. As the war progressed only the certificate was presented and many pilots never received their goblet and the number of victories was raised before the Ehrenbecher was awarded before receiving the Pour le Merit. The later Reichsmarshall Hermann Goring who flew with, and later commanded, the Von Richthofen squadron would have been awarded an Ehrenbecher for his achievements in the First World War and having received one influenced his implementation of the Ehrenpokal der Luftwaffe award in the Second World War for German air crews in 1940. German Air Ministry records for the number and recipients of the Ehrenbecher awards were destroyed in 1945 when Berlin was subjected to intense Allied bombing. It is not known which firm produced the Ehrenbecher. It has been speculated that either Joh, Wagner & Sohn or the WMF firms were the maker. The World War I Ehrenbecher is considerably more rare than the Honor Goblet of the Second World War. Suggested offering price.$11,500. More Photos |
