1711usew3 - Model 1917 U.S. Army issue trench fighting knife made by A.C.CO the American Cutlery Company. This fighting knife was designed specifically for close quarters trench warfare. The knuckle guard incorporated spike studs intended for striking the enemy with the greatest effect. The pommel cap likewise incorporated such a stud. The underside of the lower crossguard that extends to the knuckle guard is stamped A.C. CO. U.S.A. 1917. The three-sided blade is anodized. The wood grip is perfect as being unissued. The olive drab leather scabbard is stamped JEWELL 1918. The leather is in mint unissued condition. The upper scabbard steel fitting has a swivel attachment to affix to the belt.
