141IEW1 - Very rare Italian MSVN High Leader dagger with leather hangers. This dagger was worn by MSVN high ranking government officials. The only known photograph of Adolf Hitler wearing a dagger is the dagger Benito Mussolini presented him with during his 1938 visit to Italy. Seen in the same photograph are the other high ranking Italian officials wearing the dagger with white grip plates. This photograph can be found in author John Angolia's authoritive book, " IN THE SERVICE OF THE REICH' published bt R. James Bender Publishing, Copyright 1995, page 108. This very rare dagger is on a par with the German counterparts who lead the Hitler Youth, SA , NSKK and other NSDAP organization. This dagger features an aluminum grip with a white grip inset displaying the MSVN Fasces. The reverse of the grip displays a single retaining screw. The mirror finished unmarked blade is in overall excellent condition being free of rust, pitting or dark spots. The black scabbard's paint is in excellent condition displaying minor surface wear. There are two gilt suspension bands that the leather hanger is attached to with brass gilt clips. The unmarked black leather is supple and in excellent condition. The eagle motif gilt clip that attaches to the belt is nicely finished and shows excellent detail. I would rate this dagger as ecellent plus, plus to near mint. Very rare. $3550. More Photos
