SS Totenkopfring (Honor Ring) awarded to SS officer Koisar dated 21-12-42

145SO7 - SS Totenkopfring (Honor Ring) awarded to SS officer Heinrich Koisar dated 21-12-42. This mint but cleaned ring is one of the finest examples of a Totenkopfring ever offered by Oakleaf Militaria. This ring displays exceptional detail with no signs of wear in the various runics panels, skull , repeating oak leaves pattern and interior engraving. The ring is so pristine you can count the individual teeth which usually display wear. The ring displays all the required characteristics of a 1940's style ring. The joiner seam is clearly visible behind the separately attached soldered skull. This ring is a medium size that I would estimate to be a size 10. Heinrich Koisar, SS Ausweiss # 197501, was born in 1914 and entered the SS in 1933 and in 1934 was assigned to the Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler and attached to the SS- Verfugungstruppe. Attending SS training schools Juterbog - Waffenschule der Artillerie and SS-Junckerschule Braunschweig, Heinrich Koisar returned to LSSAH where he served as an artillery officer. Promoted to Obersturmfuhrer on 21.6.41 and assigned as Batteriefuhrer, 5./Artillerie Regiment LSSAH , he was wounded on 2.20.43 and succumbed to his wounds on 26.2.43 while serving in Russia. Please see the accompanying research materials provided by Robert McDivitt for further details. The ring comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Don Boyle who has rated this ring as mint but cleaned. Don Boyle is author of "SS Totenkopfring H. Himmler Honor Ring 1933-1945 ", published by IMAGE GRAPHICS , INC. 1993,1994, 1995.Copyright Don Boyle. A textbook mint Totenkopfring. $10,800. More Photos

SS Totenkopfring ( Honor Ring ) dated 1943

1312SO2 - SS Totenkopfring ( Honor Ring ) dated 1943. This ring displays heavy period wear but the Otto Gahr craftsmanship is still apparent in the skull and the hand-tooling. There still remains traces of the oak leaf design. The joiner seam is clearly visible behind the skull. The ring was period re-sized as there is a second seam indicating so. It was common for Waffen SS Totenkopfring recipients to resize rings rather than risk losing them. There are traces of the Slb. dedication, 43 date and H. Himmler on the interior. The SS officer recipient's name is not visible due to wear. The ring is a size 9.5 ( medium ). The ring comes with a Certificate of Authenticity provided by Don Boyle. $2750. More Photos

Extremely rare named and dated Army Balloon Observer's Badge in silver

145SO2 - Extremely rare named and dated Army Balloon Observer's Badge in silver grade ( Ballonbeobachterabzeichen im silber des Heeres ). The Army Balloon Observer's badge was first instituted in 1944. It is considered as one of the rarest and controversial Third Reich military awards. In Michael Tucker's and Stephen Previtera's book, "GERMAN COMBAT BADGES OF THE THIRD REICH, Vol. I, published by Winidore Press of Richmond Virginia, coprighted 2002. Pgs, 184-192, "The Balloon Observers badge-one of the rarest and most controversial-has its detractors. Some doubt this badge was manufactured, or even presented so late in the war. Currently, no factory records of its production are known and period photos showing the badge being worn have not been discovered. Conversely, collectors and historians who believe evidence substantiates its existence consider the bronze example shown in this reference to be the correct form. The fact that examples have been acquired from American World War II veterans, and so few of these identically made badges exist, forms the basis for evidence for those who believe the Balloon Observer was indeed produced and bestowed during the war." In addition, it is known and accepted that a 1957 version of this badge was authorized for military personnel. This hollow-back badge features an observer balloon with Balkan Cross beneath the Wehrmacht eagle. The stamped reverse features a carefully inscribed ( barely legible ) " Schmidt 18-4-45 "indicating this badge was awarded very late in the war. Extremely rare. $3750. More Photos

This Knights Cross features the correct stamps for the 800 silver content with an incused "4" along the reverse upper arm beneath the bale (ring through which the suspension loop passes). The magnetic cross weighs 29.3 grams with the silver suspension loop. The suspension ring is also marked "935". The dent row created by a flaw in the Steinhauer & Luck die is present in this Type B, pre-May 1945 Knights Cross as described in Dietrich Maerz's highly informative reference book, " The Knights Cross of the Iron Cross", published by B&D Publishing, LLC, copyright 2007. The cross further exhibits the excellent detail expected in a mint Steinhauer & Luck made cross. The black paint obverse and reverse is perfect. The ribbon is as was originally folded 65 + years ago. The frosted ribbing that surrounds the core is perfect. The cross comes with the original presentation ribbon that measures 73 mm and original Steinhauer & Luck presentation case. The cross is further described in the "EXPERTISE" and Certificate of Authenticity by Dietrich Maerz that accompanies the offering. A very fine, rare and investment grade example. $14,500. More Photos

144MAB1 - Very rare named and cased Luftwaffe Fallschirmschützen Abzeichen by C.E. Juncker. This early example of a 1940 period badge is made of nickel silver with a gilt diving eagle. The stylized Fallschirmjäger eagle displays excellent detail as is typical of Juncker made badges. This badge is made extraordinary in having the Fallschirmjäger's name, regiment and unit carefully inscribed on the reverse of the wreath. Along the right side of the wreath is written, "Fallschirmjäger Rgt 1". On the left side of the wreath is inscribed, " Obl Weber 13 Komp ". The 13th Kompanie was formed after May 10, 1940 and was designated as an Infantry Gun Komp./Panzerjäger Komp. after recognizing the need for an anti- tank unit and incorporated into the 7th Flieger Division. Although photographing the inscriptions was difficult, the name, rank, regiment and kompanie are visible under high magnification and lighting. Obl. Weber would make an excellent research project.
