0910h12 - Legion Condor panzer beret. This rare offering is made without a crash helmet liner. This beret features nickel silver insignia consisting of a panzer skull and swastika. The exterior is free of mothing. The interior has a tan leather sweatband trimmed with red rayon material. The multi-piece sweat shield is in the design of the swastika made with artificial silk. 0911h1 - Army panzer enlisted M42 cap. This rare panzer cap features machine sewn gray "T" insignia combining the Wehrmacht eagle and cockade. The machine stitch along the top edge of the eagle has separated by about 1 ½ inches. This does not detract from the overall appearance. 099h9 - Army troppenhelm (canvas pith helmet) with 2 pairs of flexible sun goggles. This tan sun helmet features six panel cotton canvas construction. The canvas is in near mint condition having minimal storage age and wear. The tan leather trim that runs the circumference of the helmet is immaculate and complete as is the leather chinstrap. This sun helmet was originally Luftwaffe. There is an additional hole on each side of the eagle shield indicating the attachment of a wider insignia shield. The underside of the apron is lined with green cotton and the helmet dome with orange colored cotton. The removal dome top allows for ventilation. 099SO1 - Army chaplain's set of three hats including the visor, officer's overseas cap and winter pelzmutze. This set was acquired directly from the family of the original chaplain's son who emmigrated to the United States following the war. The chaplain officer's schirmutze (visor) features the dark purple crown and capband waffenfarbe of the Kriegspfarrer branch of service. This color waffenfarbe was worn by all religious denominations. The hats upper wool body is constructed of officer quality ribbed trikot. The green felt wool capband and upper body are free of moth nips and stains. The matching aluminum insignia features the cross insignia unique to this hat and worn exclusively by chaplains. The interior features the Clemens Wagner logo under a cracked and partial celluloid sweat diamond. The interior is lined with gold artificial silk.      The second article of the set is the chaplain's overseas cap that features a factory-applied, machine sewn soutache of purple waffenfarbe. This officer doeskin M38 cap is stunning and rare with the chaplain's aluminum cross that is peculiar to this type of hat. The flat silverwire eagle is machine sewn and factory applied. The machine sewn cockade is the standard enlisted type. The aluminum crown and front scallop piping is all factory sewn. The exterior shows mild wear with no serious distractions. The exterior is in overall excellent condition. The interior features an officer's partial leather sweatband that is stamped. "QUALITATS MARKE". The cap is lined with the commonly seen green rayon. The interior shows normal, light wear and is free of tears and separations in the lining. Last of the chaplain's set, is the winter fur pelzmutze.
     This winter fur hat features front and side fold-down panels covered with plush rabbit fur which was commonly used for these hats. The hat's body is officer quality field gray wool. The folding, fur lined panels are secured at the crown by two strips of hbt cloth used for tie strings. On the left-hand side is a single loop used for passing the tie string through when the side panels are unfolded for winter protection of the ears. The front of the cap features a flat silverwire eagle with an early nickel silver cockade. Prominent between the eagle and cockade is the unique aluimnum chaplain's cross insignia. The interior of the cap is lined with unmarked padded gray rayon. The cap has a worn leather sweatband that shows wear having several separations. The hat features panzer pink crown and capband piping. The hat has an aluminum eagle with a stunning bullion wreath. Affixed to the capband is the very rare badge of the 116th Pz Div. first formed in the spring of 1944 and participated in heavy fighting in the D-Day Invasion and the subsequent collapse of the Falaise pocket. The edelweiss indicates the artillery officer was attached to a mountain unit. This rare leather visor hat features high quality bullion insignia with a "traditions badge" The crown and capband piping is golden yellow indicating calvalry. The aluminum wreath has a couple of stray strands of the aluminum thread The rondel with the national colors is the rarely seen metal variety. The hat's ribbed upper body and capband are in perfect condition having no mothing or stains. The visor is the lacquered cardboard type further indicative of the late war construction. The interior features a mostly complete celluloid rhomboid sweatshield with the Erel logo having faded to near-invisibility over time. 0810H5 - Army General's M43 with cello eagle. This rare hat features gold bullion crown piping and a highly detailed, hand-sewn gold general's cello eagle. Having a gold eagle rather than a silver one indicates this M43 was authorized for wear after January 1943 when the OKH ordered generals to wear gold insignia on their hats. The cockade is the standard officer's bullion variety. The high quality wool is a very fine and lighter weight doeskin. There is no mothing or stains to the cap's exterior. The earlier style thin chincords are a good fit and appear to be original to the hat. The interior is lined with off-white silk. The leather sweatband is thinner than usually seen on officer hats but this may be attributed to the maker. There are numerous small dark stains on the lining but nothing through the material. 078H6 - Heer M-42 enlisted cap. These are considered rare as the M-42 cap was so short-lived before the M-43 became the standard Wehrmacht issued piece of headgear. Most M-42's were subsequently "converted" to M-43's with the attachment of a visor. This piece is mint! It is maker stamped and dated 1942. 037H21 - Early Heer Gebirgjager officer's visor field hat. This hat is a very rare and wonderful piece. Gebirgjager officers were not authorized to wear silver piping on their hats until October '42. So what many self respecting officer's did was they added their own. This hat features thin twist cord piping that was fined stitched around the crown. The two silver buttons were also added to make this a "treue" officer's hat. The hat insignia is the early, rare white "T" and the side Edelweiss. The distinctive Edelweiss was worn only by the mountain troops and is sewn onto the side panel with field gray matching thread. The interior of this hat is the standard medium gray cotton with a full leather sweatband. The lining is marked 54 and M37. There is a metal stiffener I believe is period sewn into the front to give the hat its shape. This is a small hat. It is also very rare. $2000.  More Photos

107H24 - Allgemeine SS nco/enlisted visor hat. This near mint and un-issued Allgemeine visor features the early M29 party eagle and the M34 totenkopf indicating the hat was made in the 1934-1935 period before the M1936 eagle would have been applied. The black wool body is in mint condition. The white crown and capband piping is white and in excellent condition. The black leather SS style chinstrap is secured to the capband by two black enameled buttons. The black buckles on the chinstrap display mild oxidation due to storage and age. The interior is lined with the combination of orange oilcloth crown and cotton fabric for the upper portion. The interior features the embossed gold SS runics over the Vom Reichsfuhrer SS befohlene Ausfuhrung RZM' tag. The size is indicated as 58. The mint and supple leather sweatband shows no wear. 107SO1 - Extremely rare Allgemeine nco/enlisted summer white top visor hat. This “weisse SS schirmutze” features a white wool upper body with black crown and white capband piping. The exterior wool is in excellent condition being free of mothing and stains. The capband is the standard black wool felt found on the standard nco/enlisted visor hat. The totenkopf and eagle are Allgemeine and display age toning and slight wear. The checkerboard underside of the vulvanfiber visor has the RZM acceptance stamp. 106H3 - Allgemeine SS officer’s visor hatbox. This exceptionally rare offering features embossed black SS runics on a silver field on the lid. The black lid has a silver border that runs along the top and bottom edges. The large bottom section of the heavy weight cardboard box has a silver painted exterior with the bottom 1 ¼ inches having a black border. The bottom of the hatbox is painted black. All the exterior surfaces are in very good-excellent condition considering the age and rarity. The hatbox has an alternating black and white twisted yarn handle used for carrying. 104H4 - Waffen SS "Dachau' Panzer M43 cap. This panzer cap displays standard Dachau construction having a factory machine sewn trapezoid with the underside of the visor being cardboard. The light weight black wool has no mothing. There is very minor thinning on the exterior crown. The two side fold-down panels are joined at the front by two buttons. The underside of each panel has a thin strip of cloth intended as a pass-through when the side panels were used to protect the ears from the cold. 103H11 - Allgemeine officer’s visor hat. This hat features matching age-toned Allgemeine SS eagle and totenkopf insignia. The black wool upper body is in excellent condition having no moth holes. The white piping is in excellent condition having no mothing. The officer’s black velvet band is free of any distractions and is in excellent condition. The hat displays a high peak. The officer aluminum chincords are tight-fitting and secured to the sides by two matching pebbled aluminum buttons. The interior features a cream colored silk lining. Under the celluloid sweat diamond are the SS runics and a cloth RZM tag that reads, “Reichsfuhrer SS befohlene Ausfuhrung”. 101H48 - Waffen SS officer's crusher hat. This hat features the thin white crown and capband waffenfarbe worn by all officer's and nco/enlisted men up to the rank Oberfuhrer. After December 1940 the wear of colored waffenfarbe was ordered discontinued by Heinrich Himmler. This order was largely ignored by men in the field who continued to wear there visor hats that displayed their waffenfarbe. This hat has a low-rise crown with a leather visor. The pliable capband further attests to this cap being made as a crusher. The insignia is described as matching circa 1944 Assmann . The upper cap body has a couple of small moth nips but these do not detract from the overall appearance of this rare crusher. The capband is textbook SS officer black velvet. The cap was personalized by the officer with the addition of chincords. The interior is lined with gray/green artificial silk. This lining shows normal period use. This pressed felt wool maroon fez was worn for 'walking-out" dress rather than the field gray fez worn in the field. 097H1 - Waffen SS officer's visor hat converted from army infantry officer's. This hat exemplifies the attrition that the Waffen SS was subjected to. As the officer ranks were depleted, "volunteers" were added from the other branches of the Wehrmacht. This hat began as an army infantry officer's visor and it is apparent that the officer who wore this visor ended his service in the Waffen SS. The hat is constructed of gray doeskin upper body with infantry white piping. The green felt capband is readily observable under the black velvet officer's band that was added once the officer entered the Waffen SS along with the SS eagle and totenkopf. The interior features a August Schellenberg rhomboid sweat diamond and a complete gray leather sweatband. The visor shows normal and steady period use. 094H4 - Waffen SS NCO/enlisted panzer piped visor hat. This Waffen SS issue hat features pink waffenfarb authorized for wear by panzer units from May 10, 1940 through December 31, 1940. Although the order for the display of waffenfarb was authorized for only seven (7) months on visor hats by officers, nco's and enlisted men, waffenfarb was continued to be worn until the end of the war. The totenkopf and the SS eagle show wear consistent with the rest of the hat. The metal eagle has been sewn on as was common for visor hats that were worn in the field. The leather chinstrap and vulcanfiber visor show the appropriate age and wear. The interior features orange colored cotton lining with remnants of the original celluloid sweatshield. The "low-rise" crown is evident of early construction probably in the the 1938 - 1939 period. These hats are seen being worn primarily in the pre-war and early war years. 086h9 - Dutch SS enlisted visor hat with "Wolfsangle" insignia. The Dutch SS was stockpiling Allgemeine SS uniforms in 1940 about the same time as the German SS stopped wearing theirs. It is speculated that after the German Allgemeine stopped wearing their black service uniforms they were shipped to countries such as Holland and Norway for their fledgling SS units to wear. This hat features the Wolfsangle worn by the Dutch SS units with their service uniforms.The hat's body has been tacked-down at the sides to give the hat a more "rakish" appearance. The upper body has no mothing, exterior tears or stains. There is one area along the white crown piping at the front peak that shows wear. The interior shows heavy use. The orange oilcloth lining standard for Allgemeine enlisted visor shows honest age and wear. The celluloid sweatshield is cracked and has tears. The size stamp indicates 57 - a normal size. 083h1 - SS M43 cap for enlisted man. It's mint. You will not find a better conditioned SS M43 em than this hat. This cap is made of a heavy wool'rayon blend not unlike the material used for the uniforms. This cap features a machine sewn front trapezoid with the eagle and totenkopf combination. The two field gray front closure buttons are perfect. On the underside of the side earflaps is the length of rayon cloth used to pass through either end of the cap's ear flaps when pulled down for warmth. 065H1 - SS enlisted /NCO M-43 visored field. This cap features the Italian gabardine material often seen in these caps after the SS shipped huge quantities to Germany after the Italians gave up on their part of the war effort. The exterior is in overall excellent condition showing minor wear but no abuse. The interior is made of hbt rayon and does show sweat staining (it gives it character). There are two stamp marks. Regiment General Goring armored units worn the beret with Luftwaffe insignia from 1938 through early 1940. The beret's upper body (tam) features the circular weave starting at the lappet and is in excellent condition. The interior of the tam has a machine-sewn Holters, Berlin tailor's label. 0812SO2 - Regiment General Goring panzer beret (schutzmutze). This exceptionally rare beret is the rarest item of headgear I have ever had. I first heard of this piece several years ago when I learned that this was sold to an advanced collector approximately 25 years ago after turning up at a show in Greenbelt, Maryland when a person walked in with it along with a sturmartillery beret. This until now unobtainable beret was worn by the Regiment General Goring armored units from 1938 through early 1940. 068H2 - HJ Luftwaffe Flak Helpers cap. This excellent example is made of heavy Luftwaffe blue-gray woll featuring the HJ diamond in the front over a single aluminum pebbled button that joins the fold-down side panels. There is a single metal air-gromet on each side of the cap. There is no mothing or stains.The interior of the cap is lined with gray rayon (artificial silk) and is marked with the expected RBN # and size 53. The date "44" is also stamped. There are remnants of the partial leather sweatband remaining. Ther is also a brown RZM tag stitched to the crown indicating that the hat is a "sommer-mutze" which it is not. Mis-tagged, size-stamped and labeled items are commonly found in Third Reich manufactured items.The hat shows light, honest period wear. 058H3 - Luftwaffe summer flying helmet, FK34. This flying helmet, kopfhauben, is the type without radio equipment. The tan colored exterior features linen fabric and dark brown leather chinstraps at the side. The each side has a fastening clip for the oxygen mask. The top has an adjustment band for size. The interior is yellow-gold satin and has a G.A. Hoffmann tag sewn into the material. Now here's where this flight helmet gets interesting. The owner's name is handwritten on the tag AND the unit number is stamped on the chinstrap. This would make for an interesting research project for those who are inclined. 057H3 - Luftwaffe early enlisted/nco visor hat for flight. This stunning hat features an early aluminum eagle with matching winged cockade. The hat has complete bright golden-yellow piping. The black mohair capband is untouched by moths as is the rest of the hat.The leather chinstrap is tight and shows minor age discoloration. This is a wonderful hat. The interior is stamped Gebr. Alm…. Berlin. The size is 57 and the hat is dated 1936! The celluloid diamond is missing (sorry) otherwise the hat would be rated near mint. Now for the inside of the complete leather sweatband - it's stamped "FeaQ" and "FLHKdtr.Q I". If my research is correct, according to Angolia's book Uniform's and Traditions Luftwaffe vol. 1, pg. 365, the FLHK would indicate "Hohere Fleigerkommandeure" staff around 1936 for Higher Commander's of Flying units. This visor hat pre-dates the addition of the bullion scalloped borders. This hat features a removable white waffle pattern cotton top. 0712H3 - Kriegsmarine field gray overseas cap by Clemens Wagner. This cap is cut in the army style featuring a front scallop. The cap has a neatly applied handsewn eagle and cockade. There is a shadow outline where a KM yellow soutache once had beem. There are remnant threads of the soutache under the scallop. There are two side air grommets that are interestingly blocked by the gray/brown cotton lining. Also of interest is the use of two colors cotton lining. One of the top sections is stamped with the trademark oval of Clemens Wagner. It is dated Aug. 39 and size 55. The cap shows light wear and minor mothing along the top folds. One of the side scallop, where the front dips has been tacked down to enhance the cap's shape. The stitch securing the scallop on the other side has come free. The interior shows light wear. The tan ribbed twill wool crown, lower side panels and visor is free of mothing and stains as is the black felt side and front section. This hat features a woven diplomatic style eagle over a metal cockade. The hat’s upper body is made of brown wool consistent with that seen in RMBO hats. The capband is made of brown wool felt. The Flamische Wachtabteilung was established in Belgium in May 1942 as an internal security force to assist the local police in keeping order. This field cap features a hand sewn bullion insignia with a sea eagle clutching a VNV triangle in a cog wheel. The black officer quality ribbed tricot wool material has factory sewn side and front scallops bordered with yellow/gold cotton piping. This extremely rear offering was worn by the "Milice Francaise" otherwise known as the Vichy French militia created in January 1943 for the purpose of combating anti-German resistence, summary executions and rounding up the Jewish population for deportation. Following the collapse of German occupied France, members of the Milice were pressed into service with the Waffen SS Division Charlemagne. Following the war, members of the Milice who did not escape France were vigorously prosecuted for the crimes against the French people. This extremely rare visor hat was worn by officials of the Ostminiserium (RMBO) or Third Reich government officials responsible for overseeing the occupation of the "Eastern" (Soviet) occupied territories. This is one of the rarest hats Oakleaf has ever offered. Directed by Reichsminister Alfred Rosenberg, the Reichsministerium fur die besetzten Ostgebiete -RMBO, wore uniforms distinct from the Foreign Ministry. This hat features a distinctive gold wash metal eagle and wreathed kokarde. The kokarde is separate of the wreath. The hat has a high peak and great saddle shape. The hat body is made of heavy medium brown wool identical to the fabric of the RMBO uniform. The hat has wool gold crown and capband piping indicating rank as that of a senior level official. 0910H3 - Political Leader's visor hat by Kreisleiter level official. Kreis level political visor hats were worn by NSDAP officials who were higher than the Orts level but below Gau level officials. Kreisleiter level officials wore white piping on the crown and capband. This hat is made of light brown tricot wool. The rich havana brown velvet capband is in excellent condition. There is one minor water stain evident on the left-hand side of the upper body beneath the white piping. The gold cello chincords are tight to the capband. The gold party officials insignia shows very light loss of the finish. The brown visor exhibits minor scuffing. The interior is lined with medium brown cotton/ rayon. There is a false cotton chinstrap with pressed paper decorative buttons over the cloth covered visor. The interior is well marked with the maker's stamp "AMP" and size 56. 0810H7 - Polizei M43 enlisted cap with green (schutzpolizei) crown piping. This cap features hand sewn, hexagonal polizei insignia and an edelweiss on the side scallop indicating a mountain unit. This rare M43 has two side air grommets with one missing. The top of the cap between the outer fabric and interior lining is lined with celluloid as a means to waterproof the cap against inclement weather. The interior is lined with light brownish tan cotton and shows period wear. It is stamped but I am unable to make out the marks. There is also the original ower's nametag stitched onto the crown lining. There is also a partial leather sweatband that is imprinted "DEUTSCHE INDUSTRIE". $1999. More Photos

0810H4 - NSFK kepi. This kepi features a Luftwaffe blue wool body and visor. The crown piping, side and front scallop piping is golden yellow. The black leather chinsrap is secured by a single black enameled button on each side. Below the aluminum state eagle is a single pebbled aluminum button. On each side are two air grommets. The interior is lined with steel-blue artificial silk. The celluloid sweatshield has given-way to time. There are film company stamps on the lining. The leather sweatband has a single split in the front and is joined at the rear by a single staple. This kepi is in great shape and displays well. 0810H8 - Schutzpolizei bergmutze for enlisted ranks. I love this cap. This polizei M43 features handsewn police hexagon insignia. The upper body has had a period repair on the right-facing side towards the rear caused by it having been exposed to flame. This repair was machine - stitched. Along the lower edge of the upper body were the visor is attached is a strip of fabric that I cannot account for. But it's undoubtedly period manufactured that way. On the right-facing side is a metal edelweiss. The interior shows a period added, machine-sewn oilcloth sweatband. That shows honest wear. The cap is lined in field gray cotton and is padded in the front to give it additional support and shape. The maker's stamp E.J. Trimborn… is present along with a size stamped 53 ½. 083H5 - TeNo officer's visor hat by Erel. This stunning example features a stylized silver bullion officer's eagle and bullion cockade. The hat's upper body is made of high quality doeskin wool and is deep navy blue. The capband a black velvet. The crown and capband piping are aluminum denoting officer rank. There is one very minor moth nip on the right-facing side and another on the rear crown but these are miniscule and do not detract from the beauty of this very rare cap. The interior is lined with golden yellow artifical silk. The Erel rhomboid sweat diamond is complete but much of the Erel foil lettering has worn off. The officer's name tag is present in the diamond. It is illegible. The leather sweatband is double stamped with the distributor's name and location. The sweatband is also stamped with Erel's logo. The underside of the sweatband is also stamped by the distributor "Gabriel Henneberger…." The size is approximately 58. 079H24 - NAPOLA (Ordensburg) Leader's visor hat. This hat features the deeper, Havana brown found in the NAPOLA leader's visors. The golden piping contrasts beautifully on this visor. These hats were worn by officials charged with running the schools responsible for selecting youths chosen to become the future party leaders. The NAPOLA system was not a standard school system. Youths were especially selected by local party leaders for this honor. This beautiful hat features one of the most stunning political eagles and cockade sets I've ever seen. At one point someone re-positioned the chincord button on the left-facing side. The bullion cords show normal age oxidation. The interior of the hat is ribbed artificial silk. 079H23 - Gau level Political Leader's visor hat. This very rare Political Leader's visor features red crown and capband piping. The eagle is the early 1934 style with matching cockade. The rondelle has a black swastika surrounded by circular oak leaves which in turn is circled by red enameled outer design. The red piping shows minor moth "nippage" but not enough to detract from the overall appearance of the hat. The plush brown velvet on the capband is 100% undamaged with the name LANG perforated in the band. The gold bullion chincords are a good fit to the hat. There are several moth nips on the upper crown revealing the brown lining. The brown leather visor is age cracked but in overall excellent condition. The side panels are neatly stitched down at the peaks to give the cap shape. The black wool is of high quality.The interior of the cap is lined black cotton. This cap is constructed of high quality black wool and cut in the NSKK style with deep-cut side scallops that attach to the air-grommets by means of tiny hooks. The two aluminum front buttons feature the party eagle superimposed over a steering wheel. The NSKK was created to train qualified drivers for the Wehrmacht. The silver NSKK eagle is on a golden-yellow background indicating the wearer's district as Sudwest. This is a heavy constructed cap. There are two tiny holes on the eagle side that indicate that a badge was attached at one time. These holes are barely noticeable. The interior features high quality black cotton lining. There is no RZM tag. The two side air grommets appear to be brass that would indicate this as a pre-war made hat as brass was in short supply after the outbreak of war. With the build-up of the German Wehrmacht in the mid-1930's, it became apparent that there was an acute shortage of qualified drivers. The NSKK was created to fill this need. The two, aluminum front buttons are purely decorative featuring a party eagle superimposed over a steering wheel. The silver NSKK triangular eagle is black -backed indicating the wearer was from either the Niederscheim or Ostmark districts.
